Plastics are convenient, cheap and ubiquitous. More than 350 million tons are produced worldwide each year. Yet plastics contain a wide variety of chemicals, including substances that pose significant risks to humans and the environment. These can be released during their life cycle and recycling and cause a lot of misery.
